The Roxbury Treble Choir, under the direction of Mr. Dan Salyerds, is the department’s only all treble-voice curricular group. These singers meet in one of two Treble Choir choir periods as a five-credit curricular course, and work on their own concert repertoire from a variety of musical periods and styles. This choir is designed to acquaint the incoming freshmen with the Roxbury Choir Program, and provide them with the opportunity to develop good vocal techniques and music reading skills.
Members of the Treble Choir are responsible for participating in the three major choir activities of the year: the Winter Concert, the Roxbury Invitational, and the Spring Masterworks Concert. In addition, they must attend the four required rehearsals for the year: two for the Spring Masterworks and one each for the Invitational and Winter Concerts.
Treble Choir members are not required to give more time beyond the major choir commitments, but they are encouraged to become more involved if they wish. Members of the Treble Choir will have various musical opportunities throughout the year, such as auditioning for Region Choir and many select ensembles at Roxbury.
As always, the Roxbury Choir Program hopes to prepare the members of the Treble Choir for a higher level of music should they decide to audition for one of the select groups in the future.
