Now in its 25th year, the Roxbury Madrigals provide a unique extracurricular opportunity to Roxbury Choir members.
The Madrigal ensemble is an extra-curricular group which rehearses one day a week after school for an hour. Auditions for Madrigals are held in the beginning of September. Students from any level of choir can audition for Madrigals, and are chosen based upon their musical audition (tone quality, intonation, musicianship, ability to hold parts independently, preparation) and their attitude (ability to work with others, reliability, enthusiasm, dependability).
The Roxbury Madrigals perform all a cappella literature from early choral repertoire, which is highly challenging. Consequently, this is a group of students that must have a serious attitude about working hard and must be ready to give extra time in their schedule. A member of Madrigals is responsible for being at all the Madrigals dates listed in this book. The Roxbury Madrigals rehearse and perform in the first half of the year.
